Ways To Improve Your Mental Health When You Feel Out of Place

This article is all about ways to improve your mental health when you feel out of place

I’d like to say that mental health issues mostly come when you feel alone and secluded from life. I know this first hand, and I’m sure the people who are reading this feel the same too. To improve your mental health means to improve your overall life and take care of yourself as your main priority. Not only does mental health affect us, but also impacts our loved ones. So, maintaining a self-care routine, prioritizing yourself and giving space to grow and be the best version of yourself can do you some good (I know it has with me)! 😊

There are many ways to improve your mental health and most of them do you a whole lot of good! Mental health isn’t something to be closed off about, you need to communicate how you feel and what you feel, to lead a better life. So, keep on reading below to find out the best ways to improve your mental health.

Make Social Connections

Making social connections are essential to lead a good life and be the best version of yourself. Often times, we start neglecting ourselves and tend to stay indoors, which promotes negativity and dwelling on the past. Hence, making our mental health suffer. Even if this happens over a long period of time, in the end, you start feeling depressed and have anxiety about the smallest of things (I’ve been there). Making social connections is one of those tings you can do to improve your mental health. Not only does it help with controlling anxiety, but also give you a positive energy when you mingle with people and have the same common interests as yourself! (It’s how I have been able to find the best of friends) ❤️

Stay Active

The good thing about our lives is that we are always active (even when we don’t want to be). 😐 I know first hand that working in a professional environment requires you to be more active – socially and physically, regardless of job type. Being more active can actually help us in leading a better life and improving our overall mental health – making us the best of the best!!

Staying active means you do your own chores, get up early, try to fit a workout in and do less moaning and more work (even when your eyes are telling you to sleep lol)! This does help us in achieving what we want as we grow older, but also gives us an extra advantage when it comes to our mental health. Because even if we don’t realize it at that time, we are putting ourselves first, being active and promoting all the good hormones to our brains for a positive response! So, YAY FOR THAT!! 😊

Talk And Talk Some More

What was once seen as too much of a taboo topic is now the norm for most of us. As it should be and hopefully we can keep bringing mental health and mental health topics to the forefront. Talk it out is what I’ve learnt because all of that pent up anger doesn’t help anyone! I know it is hard to talk to people about how you are feelings, especially when, you don’t know what you are feeling. But talking to someone is helpful. Even if it doesn’t make sense at that time, you’ll be thankful down the road later on.

You can talk to a mental health professional like a therapist or someone who you can confide in like your BFFFF’s! it doesn’t really matter who you talk to, it just matters that you talk to someone or the other. Because, talk therapy can lead to improving your mental health and give you drastic changes in life, making you feel happy and sound!

Eat Healthy

Eating is one of those hobbies I enjoy the most. I mean come on, who doesn’t love to EAT! I especially love to always be snacking and eating something or the other. And when I’m not eating, I am mostly thinking about food and what to eat next 😊 😊.

But eating for your health is something I often forget to do. As we all (don’t we)? We eat most of the times what we feel, forgetting that eating good and healthy foods can help with your physical health and also your mental health too. Eat healthy foods and snack on nuts, fruits and vegetables to live a good life and have the best digestion ever! These small things you can do to improve your mental health and all without breaking the budget and maintaining it bit by bit. So less McDonalds and more fruits, vegetables and homecooked dishes!!!

Get Some Sleep

Sleep is the main thing that gives your mind the rest it deserves (I mean, after putting up with everyone all day, you deserve the rest)!

Long gone are the days of sleepless nights and being out at odd hours and partying. Instead try to be in bed by a certain time, unwind while reading a book and have the best dreams you can imagine. Sleep is the main factor to maintain good mental health and can help with waking up more refreshed and positive (I need to sleep more to feel this energy)!

Give yourself the rest you deserve and sleep 8 hours every night. I do understand if sometimes you will have to stay up late, go to an event or do something like studying 😐 but that shouldn’t make you sleep cycle go up and down. Sleep is needed and try to be in bed ontime, even if it means running to the sheets – hahahaha!

Dear Misfits,

I know it can be hard to prioritize your mental health, but sometimes, even after doing all of the things needed, we need to find help in other ways. A little nice warm bath can do wonders, but when you’re still feeling doubtful, worrisome or anxious, remember there are people that can help and there is no shame in going to them.

There are different things you can do to improve your mental health and those things are small but lead to big results. Take care of yourself, be kind to yourself, love who you are and improve your life in small ways that are sustainable to say the least. I have also had a hard time when it comes to mental health and sometimes, I have felt too pressurized in doing what I don’t want to do. Which has made my mental health worse on occasions. But that should not be the case for you. Do what you want and live how you feel like.

Let’s spread love and positivity throughout and be kind to everyone, creating a better space to live!

Love you

Confused Misfit
